Born on November 11, 1931, David was the youngest son of John Kern Earle, Sr. and Mary Louise Farrell Earle of the West Gantt community. He was a 1950 graduate of Greenville High School.
David grew up working on the family farm, known as Edgewood Dairy Farms, with his father and two brothers. After the dairy sold in 1967, he continued a career in the dairy industry by working with the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for sixteen years.
He had many interests which included traveling extensively across the United States, listening to live bluegrass music, and playing Scrabble with family and friends. David always enjoyed opportunities to meet new people and to be a contributing member of his church and community.
David was a longtime member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon as well as numerous other roles.
He was a caring and gentle soul, devout in his Christian faith. He left a lasting impression on all with whom he crossed paths, from his family, to those he met during his final days.
David is predeceased by his first wife of eight years, Mary Lee Hughes Earle, who passed away December 26, 1971, and by his second wife of forty years, Martha Ann Campbell Earle, who passed away December 7, 2013. He is also predeceased by siblings John K. Earle, Jr., Mary E. Drawdy, Margaret E. Ellison, and William H. Earle.
He is survived by his daughter, Marjorie Earle Varn of Asheville, NC, her husband Scott Varn, and two grandsons, Elias Denniston Varn and Grayson Ernest Earle Varn. He is also survived by his sister Elizabeth E. Farnsworth, as well as many nieces and nephews.
