The Gadsden Times, Tuesday, December 17, 1963, front page: Mrs. Martha Lillian Riley, 30, was found in her auto at a service station and the cause of her death was by accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. A worker at the rear of the auto had also been overcome by the carbon monoxide poisoning. Attalla Brown Service Funeral Home.

The Gadsden Times, Saturday, December 21, 1963: Funeral services for Mrs. Martha L. Riley, 30, Shorter Avenue, Attalla, were to be held today at 11 a.m. at Cherry Street Baptist Church. Burial was to follow in Parr Cemetery. Attalla Brown Service directing. Mrs. Riley died of carbon monoxide poisoning earlier this week. She was a native and lifelong resident of this county. She is survived by her husband, Paul Riley, USAF, Paris, France; son, Paul Riley, Jr.; 2 daughters, Trerica and Patricia Riley all of Gadsden; her father, Martin Hill of Heflin; her mother, Mrs. Lee Winkles of Attalla; 5 brothers, Phillip, Clarence, Oris, R.L, William Hill and sister, Mrs. Carolyn McDermid.

Although the obituary states another cemetery, Martha L. Riley and her husband, Paul Riley, are buried in Forrest Cemetery, Gadsden.
