My friend Lonnie Benningfield Jr.'s mother. She is survived by three other children. Jamar & Jamael Tucker and Lonnie's sister, Jessica Benningfield that will miss her greatly.
Angela S. Ledger was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Andrew Sr and Ollie Mae Smith. She was the eighth of nine children. Ms. Smith gave her Life to Christ at a very early age to Whole Truth Church of God in Christ in Hensley, Arkansas.
She had graduated from Mills High School in 1981 and participated in the Army Reserve training exercises at Camp Robinson. Angela received her early Educations at University of Arkansas.
Her love for kids led her to obtain multiple degrees in Early Childhood Education. She was employed by "Pulaski Technical College" for many years' as a Pre-School Teacher. Angela will be remembered as a hard worker that excelled doing her job to perfection.
I knew her since I became friends with Lonnie in 2004 at Joe T. Robinson High School. Till her passing five days after Lonnie's birthday in March. The very last time I saw his mother was on February 9, 2018 at his apartment.
I graduated with Lonnie on May 31st 2008 and we still remain buddies to this day; and hang out and do things together. I promised Angela I would take him on a second trip this time to Atlanta, Georgia to meet Rev. Bernice King after a trip to the National Civil Rights Museum during our graduation.
She was a devoted Christian, and a member of the church under the leadership of the late Elder Jewel Withers; Sr. where she remained a faithful member, until her passing. Actor Liam Hemsworth visited the burial site to share his condolences with her family and friends when he had chance in 2020 after shooting scenes for the movie Arkansas.
Her funeral service was held on March 24th, 2018. At 11 a.m. at The Woodson Temple Church of God in Christ. I was introduced to this church, when she and Lonnie invited me over to stay at their house and I have fond memories being there with them.
