Jesus Laurel, age 84, of Santa Maria, CA passed away on March 14, 2018. Jesus was born in Valle de Santiago Guanajuato, Mexico on January 22, 1934. He arrived in the United States in 1954, as a guest worker with the Bracero Program. He married his first wife Ofelia Razo in 1957, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Guadalupe, CA. Together with his wife Ofelia, they owned and operated the Imperial Café and Muneca Café in Guadalupe, CA for several years. Jesus and Ofelia had five children together Lucy, Robert, Martha, Jesse and Mark.
In 1979, Jesus’s wife Ofelia passed away leaving him as a single parent. In 1989, he remarried Ana Silva. Jesus enjoyed cooking, traveling, watching sports on television and singing.
Jesus is survived by his wife of 29 years, Ana Laurel. He is also survived by his daughters Lucy (Ben) Gonzales; Martha (Jose) Franco; three sons, Robert (Marie) Laurel, Jesse Laurel and Mark Laurel; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Hector Laurel, Nipomo, CA and Maria Del Carmen Laurel and Carmelo Laurel both reside in Mexico.
Jesus was preceded in death by first wife Ofelia Razo Laurel; parents Carmen Laurel and Lucia Serratos; brothers, David Laurel and Carlos Laurel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. with rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary in Santa Maria, CA.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 966 W. Orchard Santa Maria, CA with burial to immediately follow at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
