James A. Good, 78, of Nampa died Monday June 12, 2006. He died peacefully, at his home on Greenhurst Road, after a long and courageous struggle with Parkinson´s Disease. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life was held Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the First Mennonite Church, 1211 6th St. No. A private interment preceded the memorial service at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Services were under the direction of the Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. So., Nampa 466-3545. James was born at home to Abraham and Anna Good on July 24, 1927 at Greenhurst Road, Nampa. He left home at 21 to do voluntary service building homes in Germany after World War II under the auspices of Mennonite Central Committee. After returning from Germany he married June Sherfy of Albany, Ore. on March 27, 1951. James enjoyed farming and being a husband, father, and grandfather the rest of his life. He expressed his commitment to Christ and the church by serving at First Mennonite Church in many ways: including being adult superintendent, an elder, and sometimes preaching. He lived with integrity, honesty and kindness. James loved music and knew many songs by heart. He also enjoyed traveling and the beauties of nature: flowers, birding, fishing, and hiking. James is survived by his wife June of 55 years, his daughter, Kathleen Good Moyer, son Kenneth Good, daughter-in-law Rachel Good, daughter Helen Wenger, son-in-law Phil Wenger, son Brian Good; grandchildren David Moyer and wife Starla; Kami Good; Jeremy, Zachary, and Aaron Wenger. He is also survived by four siblings: Elizabeth Kauffman, Martha Yoder, Ester Good, Edwin Good and wife Betty, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by three siblings who died in childhood, his parents, a son-in-law Ron Moyer, and a grandson Gentry Good. Contributions in James memory may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 21 South 12th Street, PO Box 500, Akron, PA 17501. The family would like to express our deep gratitude to the entire staff of Heart 'n Home Hospice for their love and care shown to our husband and father during the last year of his life.
