Lucille Williams died peacefully March 8, 2007, at the home of her niece in Knoxville, TN following a lengthy illness.

She was the daughter of Charlie Clay and Hassie Garland Street. Born in Unicoi County in 1920, she lived most of her life in Kingsport. Following her mother's death in 1923, her father was assisted in rearing her by an aunt, Celia L. Garland, her grandparents, G. D. and Isabelle Garland and uncles, Vallee and Frank Garland.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Gene K. Williams. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and George Bamberg of Houston, TX; one sister: Becky "Bess" Angel of Johnson City; two devoted nieces: Dr. Cathryn S. Angel and Cynthia Angel Ingram and husband Tom; two great-nieces: Celia Angel and Margaret Ingram and a great-nephew, Conner Ingram, many cousins and good friends.

Lucille will be remembered as a talented, peaceful and determined individual. Always a lady, she was an excellent cook, gardener and homemaker, an astute bridge player and needle worker. Lucille was known to be a tolerant, generous and treasured friend, sister, niece and aunt. She was a loving and much beloved wife and mother who will be missed by many.

She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Kingsport and was a volunteer in numerous charities and garden clubs in Kingsport for many years as well.

Family and friends will gather at Roselawn Cemetery on March 11, 2007, at 12:45 for a 1:00 PM graveside service. D. H. Garland, Jr. will offer the eulogy. Honorary pallbearers will be George Bamberg, Tom Ingram, Conner Ingram, Ralph Garland, Alvin Garland, Garland Anderson, Harold Garland and Dr. Jack Snyder.
