Actress. She was best known for her roles in the 1970s films "Five Easy Pieces", "Blume in Love", and "Play It Again, Sam". Born Susan Florence Anspach, she graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School (Long Island, New York) in 1960 before becoming involved with musical theater. She went on to star in multiple Broadway and off-Broadway theatrical productions, such as "Hair" and "A View from the Bridge" with Robert Duvall, Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight. She got her start in television in 1965 in the series "The Defenders". She later appeared in various television series throughout her career such as "The Doctors and the Nurses", "Judd for the Defense", "Love Story", "Rosetti and Ryan", "The Yellow Rose", "Space", "The Slap Maxwell Story", "Empty Nest", and "Murder, She Wrote". She made her motion picture debut in the 1970 film "The Landlord". Besides "Five Easy Pieces", "Blume in Love", and "Play It Again, Sam", her career film credits also included "The Big Fix" (1978), "The Devil and Max Devlin" (1981), "Montenegro" (1981), "Blue Monkey" (1987), and "Wild About Harry" (2009). She passed away of a coronary failure.
