VERONA Lynne L. Moonen, 74, Old Oneida Road, died Saturday evening, April 7, 2018, in the Oneida Healthcare Center, shortly after her admission, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.Born in Oneida, on Sept. 7, 1943, she was a daughter of Forrest G. and Mona Halliday Lessels Sr. A resident of Verona for the past 55 years, Lynne was a graduate of Camden High School and attended Morrisville State College. She married Harlan F. Moonen in St. Joseph's Church, Oneida, on Feb. 24, 1962.Prior to her retirement, Lynne was employed with Madison-Oneida BOCES as a substitute teacher and in the substitute service center. She previously had been employed with the Erie Canal Village. Lynn was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and a member of its Altar-Rosary Society, a member of the Verona Garden Club, a member of a spinning and weaving guild and an avid golfer at Mc Connellsville Golf Club.Surviving besides her husband, Harlan, are her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Julie and Patrick Smith of Verona, Jill and Randall Collins of Vernon and Janet Moonen of Sylvan Beach; her two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter E. and Rita Moonen of Oneida and Robert F. and Tammy Moonen of Hilton Head, S.C.; her brother and sister-in-law, Forrest G. and Jeanette Lessels Jr. of Canastota; her brother-in-law, Robert Sochan of Aurora; 13 grandchildren, Nicholas, Laura, Joyce, Christina, Skyy, Rebecca, Rachel, Nicole, Matthew, Erika, Brandi, Janelle and Hunter; nine great-grandchildren and one niece and two nephews. She was predeceased by three grandsons, Timothy, Stephen and Nathan and her sister, Margery L. Sochan who died on April 1 of this year.Funeral services will be held 9:15 a.m., Saturday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida and 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Verona, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Edmund Castronovo, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call 3-7 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
