Injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Toledo, Friday, caused the death of Dr. Marshal B. Newhouse 73, one of Marion's oldest practicing physicians, at 3 o'clock this morning at Flower Hospital, in Toledo.
The condition of his wife, Mrs. Eliza Jane Newhouse ,76, who was injured in the same accident, is critical. Little hope is entertained for her survival.
The body of Dr. Newhouse will be brought to Marion today or Tuesday and taken to his late home, 819 East Center St. Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made.
Dr. Newhouse, who practiced medicine in offices at 142 1/2 East Center Street, had been a Marion resident for 18 years. He was born January 15, 1855 at Magnetic Springs, the son of John and Rebecca McAllister Newhouse, and one of a family of ten. He began practice of medicine 44 years ago after completing his course at the Medical College of Toledo in 1883. He practiced in Nebraska and Magnetic Springs before coming here. He was a member of the Epworth M.E. Church.
Dr. and Mrs. Newhouse celebrated their golden anniversary, here, July 2, 1927.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Newhouse is survived by three daughters, Mrs. F.E. Wright of Detroit, Mrs. E.H. Bobnet of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Mrs. Noble L. Wood of Summit Street; a sister, Mrs. James Brown of Magnetic Springs, and two granddaughters, Miss Phyllis Wood and Miss Eileen Bobnet.
