Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Joines-Appleby Funeral Home in Newman. Pastor Tim Pearman will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro, Ind. Mr. Craig Roller will officiate the service at the cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dean was born on Oct. 31, 1930, in Clay County, Tenn., a daughter of Clifford and Bessie Stanford Hurd. She married Ted Deckard in 1947. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Survivors include children, Ted (Connie) Deckard of Mellott, Ind., Marie (Ron) Norvell of Arthur, Billy Deckard (special friend Dottie Lovett) of Allerton and Kathy (Glenn) Delbridge of Sidell; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Cross of Lafayette, Ind.; sister, Willie Key of Veedersburg, Ind.; and a brother, Guye Hurd of Mellott, Ind.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and two sisters.
Dean enjoyed quilting and embroidering. She worked until she was 80 at the Brick Street Cafe in Sidell, where she enjoyed baking pies.
She was a member of the Faith Evangelical Church in Fairmount
