Mary Barbara, daughter of Magdalena and John Bamberger, was born July 14, 1879, at Bretzville, Indiana, Dubois County and in 1890 moved with her parents to Sidney, Illinois.
She was united in marriage to Francis L. Block February 12, 1896, at Sidney, Illinois.
In the fall of 1919 the family moved to Ortonville where they developed a fruit farm on Big Stone lake.
She is survived by her husband, and the following children: Lylyan, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts; Leo, Minneapolis; Louis, Ortonville; Cleopha, at home; two grandchildren, Eileen and Evelyn Block, St. Joseph, Illinois; two brothers, John Bamberger, Huntingburg, Indiana; Philip Bamberger, Indianapolis, Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Deere, Longview, Illinois, Miss Alvena Bamberger, Champaign, Illinois.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon. Services were read by Mrs. Sylvia Hess of the Christian Science society.
Music was furnished by the Misses Mary Shumaker and Elizabeth Cummens. Pallbearers were Oliver Benson, Jack Galloway, Fred Griffith, Raymond Hegge, Glen Hedge and Reuben Stansfield.
Relatives attending from a distance were Miss Lylyan Block, Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts; Leo Block, Minneapolis; Mrs. Katherine Deere, Longview, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Amel Block and Mrs. Edgar Schwartz, Sidney, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Kerna Block, Broadlands, Illinois; Paul Dively, Sidell, Illinois; Hilbert Block, Homer, Illinois.
