Arthur Fearn was born September 23, 1932, in New Market, Alabama to the late Charley and Annie Fearn. Arthur accepted Christ at the early age of 15 at Bethany Primitive Baptist Church. At the age of 17, he moved to Chicago, Illinois where he met and married Mildred Hawkins. To this union three children were born: Jennifer Gayle, Brian Keith, and Arthur Fearn, Jr. Arthur was truly a family man loved by many; affectionately know as Fearn, Uncle Arthur, or just Unk. He was also known for his fast talking, storytelling, wise cracks and jokes. Most importantly his love for playing cards. He loved his music and would entertain family and friends for hours. Some of his favorite artists are B. B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Pattie LaBelle, and the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. His collection of music goes way back. Arthur was employed at various companies throughout his adult life. Sometimes even working two jobs to make ends meet. His last position was held at Burlington Railroad Corp. Where he retired after 30 years of great dedication. Arthur relocated back to his home New Market, Alabama and rejoined Bethany Primitive Baptist Church in October 2001. We thank God for 78 years of precious memories. He will truly be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Annie Fearn; his only daughter, Jennifer; only grandson, Jermaine; six sisters, Betty Jackson, Minnie Pruitt, Elizabeth Allen, Fannie, Annie, and Eddie Lee Fearn; four brothers John, Charles, Clarence, and his twin, Oscar. He leaves to mourn: two sons, Arthur Jr. and Brian Keith; one granddaughter Shantell (John) Brown; one great-granddaughter Jermiah; one brother, Andrew (Marvelyn) Fearn, and four generations of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Bethany Primitive Baptist Church (280 Beth Road, New Market, Alabama 35761) with Pastor James Battle officiating. Interment will be in the Fearn Cemetery. Mr. Fearn will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
