A. L. SACHTLEBEN - A MAN OF WONDERFUL CHARACTER

Was Assistant Supt. Of Public Works in Hackensack

Albert L. Sachtleben, assistant superintendent of Public Works department of Hackensack, died at his home at 71 Court street, yesterday, death being due to cancer. He had been ill several months.

In the Baldwin administration Mr. Sachtleben was assistant building inspector, but did not serve during the Campbell administration.

The deceased had lived in Hackensack nearly all his life and was always active in First ward activities, where for years he was in the bottling business.

Mr. Sachtleben served a term as chief of the volunteer fire department.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.

Funeral services tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at his home.

Commission to Attend Funeral of A. L. Sachtleben

Funeral services for Albert L. Sachtleben, assistant superintendent of the Department of Public Works in Hackensack, who died Sunday will be held this afternoon at 3 o’clock at his home at 71 Court street, Hackensack.

Member of the present Hackensack Improvement Commission and of past administrations in Hackensack plan to attend the services.

Mayor Herman Vanderwart, at a meeting of the Commission last night, characterized Sachtleben as “most conscientious and untiring in his work.”

“Hackensack has lost a very valuable official,” the mayor said. “His death should not pass unnoticed.”

The Commission adopted a resolution calling for a letter of condolence to Mrs. Sachtleben, her three sons and daughter.

Mr. Sachtleben died at his home after an illness of several months. During the Baldwin administration he had served as assistant building inspector and several years ago was chief of the volunteer fire department.
