Rufus Hogg was born on June 9, 1916 in Tennessee, the son of Caesar Hogg (ca 1891- ) and Mary (Vaughn) Hogg (ca 1893- ). His parents were married on September 20, 1908 in Smith County, Tennessee, and Rufus had at least 2 siblings = Robert T Hogg (ca 1912- ) and Joe Etta (Hogg) Crawford (ca 1915- ). By the time of the 1940 census, Mary was a widow, and the only other person in her household was 23-year-old Rufus Hogg. {It is noted that on the Death Certificate for Rufus, the name of his father is listed as Cecil, but in other public documents the name is Caesar.}
A porter and legally a resident of 2413 Chapel Avenue in Nashville, Rufus was 28 years old and single when he died of bilateral pulmonary TB on June 17, 1944 at Davidson County Tuberculosis Hospital, where he had been for 15 months. Burial was four days later in Mount Ararat Cemetery, Nashville.
Much of the above is from his Death Certificate, with Mary Vaughn of 2413 Chapel Avenue as the informant.
