David Devoe, son of Miriam (née Redd) and Samuel Devoe, was born 1820 in Jefferson Township, Richland County, Ohio, where his parents had settled a few years earlier.

David Devoe and Mary Brelsford were married on 6 March 1848 in Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio.

In 1850, David Devoe was a farmer in Jefferson Township, but by the early 1850s the Devoe family had moved to Indiana, where David Devoe worked as a carpenter.

Died probably in the vicinity of Walkerton, Saint Joseph County, Indiana.

Notes

A number of genealogies confuse David Devoe (b. ~1820), son of Miriam (née Redd) and Samuel Devoe, with David Jackson Devoe (1822-1899), son of Abigail (née Oglesbee) and Joseph Devoe. The former married Mary Brelsford and moved to Indiana; the latter married Mary Arey and appears to have lived exclusively in Greene County, Ohio. (See: Find A Grave Memorial# 130354180.)
