John B. Bainter, the second son in a family of four, was born May 2nd, 1836 near Zanesville, Ohio, his parents moved to Indiana when he was but a child. In 1849, at the age of thirteen he moved with his parents to Illinois. In 1854 he married Ellen Craycroff, five children were born of the marriage, Frank, William, Simina, Milford and Stella. His wife died in 1892. William the second son died in 1895 and Stella in 1897. The deceased moved from Macon County, Ill., in 1904, having lived in Illinois 54 years. He died Feb. 6th, 1908 at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 3 days. He is survived by his son Frank Bainter, of near Whitman, Samina Bainter with whom he made his home and Milford Bainter, who is also living at the home. W.A. Dawson of the Christian church conducted the funeral services and he was buried in the Oxford cemetery. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved.
