George Guenther, 76, of 59 Claremont Avenue, died last night at the Holyoke hospital after several weeks illness. Born in Bavaria, Germany, July 27, 1859, he came to Holyoke from Germany 45 years ago. He was a resident of the Highlands during that time.
He was a charter member of the Bavarian Club, also a member of the Turnverein of this city and of the German Reformed Church.
He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Otto M. Pomper with whom he made his home; two sons, Henry and Albert Guenther of Holyoke; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Otto Bozenhardt of Springfield and Miss Florence Boettcher of this city; two stepsons, Charles Boettcher of this city, and William Boettcher of West Springfield; also six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at the Alger Funeral Home with burial to be in the Village Cemetery, South Hadley Falls.
