Brack, Elaine (Strong) LAKESIDE -- Elaine (Strong) Brack passed away peacefully on December 27, 2014 at Magnolia Post Acute Care. With her passing, East County lost a dedicated community volunteer.

Elaine was the Past President of the Lakeside Historical Society and Woman's Club of Lakeside. She was also active in the Bostonia Women's Club and helped resurrect the Santee Historical Society.

Elaine graduated from Grossmont High School in 1959. She was active in the Girl Scouts from Brownies through Jr. Girl Scouts with her daughters. She was a working mother and retired from Secretary duties at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church and Pre-school. She also volunteered as the Wedding Coordinator, Funeral Director and co- chaired the youth groups and church camps.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 32 years, Charles; and two daughters, Tami Pinachio and her husband, John, two grandsons, Craig Cook and Darren Gay; daughter, Juli Champlin and husband Scott and two grandchildren, Jenna and Marshal Champlin. Her mother, Ruth McMullin, passed away previously.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to Elaine's favorite charity, The Battered Woman's Shelter Fund, sponsored by the Bostonia Women's Club. Please send donations to Center For Community Solutions, 4508 Mission Bay Drive, San Diego, 92109 and specify Project Safe House in East County in memory of Elaine Brack.

A memorial service will be held for Elaine on Friday, January 9 at 11am at the United Methodist Church, 8964 Magnolia Avenue, Santee, CA. Reverend Dennis Ginoza will officiate.

From Santee Historical Society website:

To our sorrow, we have lost another of our founding members. Elaine was a whirlwind of a person who was involved in a myriad of things. Elaine had been our Treasurer up until a few years ago, but continued as our Grant Writer until the day she went into the hospital. Elaine was wonderful in the museum telling stories of when she was growing up in Santee. Elaine’s mother worked for the Edgemoor Geriatric Hospital and they lived in the small cottages on the property. Elaine moved to Lakeside in 1957 and graduated from Grossmont HS.

Along with her activities with the Santee Historical Society, Elaine was active in the Las Donas Past Presidents Club, Women’s Club of Lakeside, Girl Scouts, the Children’s Art Festival in Lakeside, Bostonia Women’s Club, California Federation of Women’s Clubs, Lakeside Historical Society, and dozens of other organizations. She was also awarded the 2010 Lakeside Citizen of the Year Award. We have printed a copy of the nomination paper as it helps show what an amazing person Elaine truly was. Elaine will be truly missed by all of us. Here are some of my favorite photos of Elaine.

Services were held at the Santee Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday Jan 9, 2015. There were so many people in attendance that it was standing room only.
