Harold Scott MELLOTT, 81, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, formerly of Knobsville, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.15, 2000, at the retirement center. Born Dec. 26, 1918, in Needmore, Fulton County, he was the son of the late Scott and Sadie Y.(Truax) Mellott.

He was married to Mildred M. Stains July 23, 1949. Mrs. Mellott preceded him in death Jan. 5, 1991. One sister and one brother survive: Ruth Barnhart, McConnellsburg and William Mellott, Knobsville. Two brothers are deceased.

Mr.Mellott was of the Protestant faith. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. In his early years, he had worked as a farm machinery mechanic. Later he retired from Grove Manufacturing, Shady Grove, where he worked as a welder.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor Chris Elliott officiating. Interment will be made in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Three Springs, R.D. (Maddensville). Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday. The Fulton Honor Guard will provide military honors at the cemetery.
