Ulysses S. Mellott, 88, McConnellsburg, died Wednesday, November 11, 1998 at
Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg.
Born August 13, 1910 in Licking Creek Township, he was the son of the late
Scott and Sadie Truax Mellott. He was married to Bertha Swisher Mellott, who
preceded him in death in 1987.
He was a truck driver and equipment operator for the PA Turnpike Commission,
prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren.
He was a life member of the McConnellsburg Volunteeer Fire Company, fire
policeman, forest fire warden for many years and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are a son, Carl E. Melott, Sr., McConnellsburg; a sister, Ruth
Barnhart of the Extended Care Unit of the Fulton County Medical Center; two
brothers: William J. Mellott, Knobsbille and Harold Mellott of Woodland
Retirement Home in Orbisonia; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Union
Cemetery Rev. Roger Trua, officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of
the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Inc., 322 N. Second St., McConnellsburg, PA
17233.
