Farewell dear friends you I leave
Brothers and sisters you may grieve
My dear companions too may mourn
But oh alas! there's no return
For now my God hath called me home
And unto dust I must return
Both young and old must die you see
Therefore prepare to follow me
Once I was young and gay like you
Death suddenly his arrow threw
And struck me in my youthful bloom
And sent me early to my tomb.
Farewell dear friends you I leave
Brothers and sisters you may grieve
My dear companions too may mourn
But oh alas! there's no return
For now my God hath called me home
And unto dust I must return
Both young and old must die you see
Therefore prepare to follow me
Once I was young and gay like you

And struck me in my youthful bloom
And sent me early to my tomb.
