Services for Garvin Mark LeJeune eill be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2007 in Emmanuel Baptist Church of Oakdale with the Rev. Glen Vagnon and Tim Hisaw officiating. Committal services will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home in Oakdale.
Mr. LeJeune, 42, of Oakdale entered eternal rest Monday, April 2 in Oakdale. He was born on Oct 28, 1964 as the youngest child of Garvin & Louise (Slayton) LeJeune in Oakdale. Mark had been a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since childhood. He had served as President of the Oak-Pine Little League Program (formerly Dixie Youth) for 10 years. He and his wife, Melinda, devoted their time every summer to ensure that the 13 to18 yr old boys of the Oakdale area could play summer baseball. Under his guidence many Oak-Pine teams had much success, including a few state titles. He will be truly missed on the baseball field, as he was just getting another season under way.
Mark was the President of the Ballard Road Hunting Club. He loved to hunt and fish. He was a 1982 graduate of Oakdale High School, a former employee of Boise Cascade and a security guard at Casablanca. He had operated Louisiana Fireworks in Oakdale for 5 years.As the most loving and caring husband, father, son, brother and friend to many he will be forever missed. It was for all of these people that made his love for cooking so great and enjoyable, his readiness to always lend a helping hand. Humor and wit were some of the things that friends and family loved about him most.
HIs father, Garvin Joseph LeJeune, preceded him in death.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Melinda Gilchrist LeJeune of Oakdale; son, Mark Daniel LeJeune of Oakdale, daughter, Hayden Lynn LeJeune of Oakdale; mother, Louise Slayton LeJeune Pettit and step-father, John Pettit of Oakdale; brothers, David LeJeune of Eunice and Jeffery LeJeune and wife, Lorna of Oakdale; sister, Rebecca "Becky" LeJeune Johnson and husband, Kendall of Oakdale, stepsister, Susie Hisaw and husband Tim of Alexandria, steobrother, Randy Clark of Oakdale; mother in law, Eva Gilchrist and husband Bruce Miller of Oakdale and 14 special nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Billy Bond, Johnny Willis, Jamie LeJeune, Kirby Bailes, Robert Slayton, Andy Strother, Philip Karam, James Bond, Greg LaBorde and Louis Ballard,
