Norma Darlene Crawford (Smith) was born in Meredosia, Illinois on January 21st, 1938 to Francis Charles Smith and Juanita Mae Gray. She was the youngest of Francis' three children and the third oldest of Juanita's ten children. She was married first to Robert Mann and had four children named Penny, Gary, Juanita (Sissy), and Steve. Years later Norma married again to William Jameson Crawford and had one child named Kathleen.

Norma loved her children and grandchildren and often wished to spend as much time with them as possible. She had a big heart. She was a fan of country music being raised on bluegrass and was especially fond of Randy Travis. Norma often fished with family and her husband and youngest daughter and would also cook large meals for family and friends when they visited. Norma passed away in her home in the early morning hours on July 5th, 2011 with her husband at her side.

At the time of her death she was survived by her husband William (Bill), her youngest daughter Kathleen, her daughter Juanita (Sissy) Mann, sons Gary and Steve Mann, her half sisters Patsy Havens Burton, Brenda Havens Crain, Sandra Havens Wilson, Sharon Havens, half brother Kenneth Havens, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Eldred Smith, sister Barbara Smith Wolfe, a half brother Michael Havens, her oldest daughter Penny Birdsell, an infant daughter named Susie who died shortly after birth, and an infant granddaughter. Norma was one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Her husband Bill released her ashes at an undisclosed location in a private ceremony but it's believed she was taken to Meredosia where she was born.
