Dec. 1 - Fathi Arafat, the brother of the late Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat and founder of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, died here on Wednesday. He was 67. Dr. Arafat died at the Palestine Hospital in suburban Cairo, where he was being treated for stomach cancer, said Mae Arif, spokeswoman for the Red Crescent Society. Dr. Arafat, a physician, was the hospital's director. He left his position as chairman of the Palestine Red Crescent three years ago, but remained honorary chairman. He was also a senior member of Fatah, the political movement of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which was led by his brother, who died Nov. 11 in Paris at age 75. Dr. Arafat is survived by his wife, Nadia, and two children. His funeral is to be held Friday at the Armed Forces mosque in Cairo and he is to be buried in Cairo, Egypt in the family cemetery according to his relatives.
