Service Caleb Tifft enlisted at Howland's Ferry, R.I. in Capt. Christopher Dyer's Co. of R.I. State troops or Militia, Col. Joseph Stanton's Regiment for 1 year. Enlisted for 2 years in Col. John Toppin's regiment of R. I. Militia as sergeant.

Remarks: Caleb Tifft and his wife are buried in the village cemetery at Pierrepont Manor, Jefferson County, N.Y. His second wife may be in Sandy Creek, N.Y. as in her pension she was living there. The date of her death is found in the records of the Deborah Champion Chapter, Adams, N.Y. There were five children in Caleb Tifft's family. A Jesse C. Johnson of Albion, Oswego County, N.Y., aged 25 years in 1853 is mentioned.
