She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church in Elizabethton. She was employed by Tri-State Container Company for thirty years.
Mrs. Jennings loved quilting, cooking, and working in her yard. She loved traveling, especially to the mountains and the beach.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Medical Center Hospice and Stephanie for the wonderful care they provided.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Slats" Jennings; one brother and two sisters.
She is survived by three daughters: Priscilla "PJ" Ward of Johnson City; Cynthia Gay Groeschel of New Jersey; Kay Arnold of Elizabethton; son: Douglas J. Jennings of Elizabethton; four sisters: Mildred Harmon and husband James of Johnson City; Joann Johnson of Indiana; Juanita Puitt and husband Budd of North Carolina; Rita Clark and husband David of North Carolina; two brothers: Gorley Whittington and wife Joy of Johnson City; Virgil Whittington and wife Jean of Elizabethton; grandchildren: Wade, Heath and Amy Arnold; James Ward and Jaime Kiech; Travis Groeschel and Janine King; Amber Wilson and Cody Jennings; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday in the Sunrise Chapel of the funeral home at 8:00 PM with Chaplain David Snyder and Chaplain Victor Tucker. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM prior to the service. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be grandsons, family members and friends.
