(There is no grave marker still standing, William was buried in Peter's Creek United Presbyterian Church Cemetery now known as Brush Creek Cemetery.)

The information below is from the Brown Family Book one of which is in my procession. There is no date of birth listed for William Brown, nor a location of birth other than Scotland. The year is approximate. If anyone has a written record of this info please share.

Luss, Dunbartonshire has been floating around for years as William's place of birth. I have not found a record nor does the "Brown Family" book mention Luss or any other place but Scotland.

My 6 x Great-Grandfather William Brown "Billy Brown the Scotsman," was born in Scotland.

He married Christiana Thompson(1729-1805) in Scotland. They, along with their 5 children came to America, landing in Philadelphia in 1772. Their children were, George (Mary Glass), William(Mary McCamish), Christiana D.(Andrew McCaslin), Margaret(Samuel Barber) and Anna(Neil Murray), according to "William Brown Family" Book all born in Scotland.

Following the route of Braddock's Army they reached their destination in Western Pennsylvania and settled in a Scottish Settlement in what is now Washington County, Pa. The home of William Brown the first was on Peter's Creek. He is buried at Peter's Creek Presbyterian Churchyard, Venetia, Washington Co, Pennsylvania. He died in Venetia near Brownsville, Pa. in 1800 at his cabin along Peter's Creek.

His wife, Christiana then went to live with their daughter, Margaret and son-in-law Samuel Barber in Turtle Creek, Pa.

Four of their children came to Middlesex Township, Butler County, Pa. before 1800. Six generations or more of William Brown's family have made Middlesex their home.

He was buried at Peter's Creek Presbyterian Churchyard in Venetia, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Now known as Brush Run Cemetery
