Erick De’Shon Van Brakle was born in Austin, Texas on May 13, 1974, the oldest child of Gerald Van Brakle Sr. and Janet Van Brakle.

He attended school in the Austin area, graduating from John H. Reagan High School, Class of 1992. Throughout school, Erick excelled in football, basketball, baseball and track. He also attended the University of Houston.

Erick was the life of the party! Known for his way with words, Erick always had a poem and or joke ready to tell. To know him was to love him.... And laugh until your sides hurt. He was known for his love for cooking and hosting people at his house. Football season will never be the same. Go Packers!

He departed this life Tuesday, June 12, 2018. Family preceding death include his father Gerald C. Van Brakle Sr.; his grandparents, Bertha Parks Hill, and Clarence and Elizabeth Van Brakle; uncle Kenneth W. Parks, and aunt Cheryl A. Parks.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his son Erick Van Brakle Jr.; mother, Janet Van Brakle; brothers Gerald Van Brakle and John Grey; sisters Nicolette Thompson and Cherelle Van Brakle; grandfather L.B. Jones Jr.; aunts, Myra D. Thompson, Michelle Van Brakle, Lisa Carroll, and Nicole Jones; uncles Clarence K. Van Brakle Jr. and Dennis Van Brakle; 5 neices; a great nephew; a great niece; a host of cousins; and numerous friends, including best friend, Raheem Twyman.
