"The body of John Abbott, Sr., who perished in the blizzard on Sunday evening, March 1st, near the home of Warren Allen in the town of Summit, was found on the 17th, inst. by Mr. Allen, as stated in these columns last week. Coroner C. F. Wharton was notified and the body was removed to the home of Mr. Allen, and on Wednesday Undertaker Fred Van Ness conveyed the remains to Richmondville. Funeral services were held on Friday and interment was made in the Richmondville cemetery. It is quite evident that the man lost his way and died from exhaustion while wandering in the snow, as he was found in a field some distance from the course he should have taken to get home.
