Effie K. 'Jackie' Shukis, a homemaker, died Wednesday at her home. She was 77.
Mrs. Shukis was born in Blountstown, FL, and lived in New Orleans and in Harahan for seven years. She was a member of the Silver Saints at Harahan Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, John C. "Whitey" Shukis; two daughters, Judy S. Miranda and Sandra P. Liggio; three sisters, Ora Palermo, Mary Ford, and Jewell Stringer of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie. Visitation will be today from 6 to 10 p.m. and Friday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale.
