Willliam Henry McGee was born in February 1884 in DeKalb County, Tennessee, the son of George Riley McGee (1851-1925) and Nincey Katherine (Starnes) McGee (1853-1939).
Raised and educated in Nashville, he was married to Lavina Newell. He was a member of Monroe Street Methodist Church and was financial secretary of the Martha Washington Council, Daughters of America. He was also a Mason and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.
William served his press room apprenticeship at the former Brandon Printing Company and later went to work for Cullom & Ghertner Printing Company, where he was made foreman of the press room about 1914, a position he held at the time he died.
Living at 1227 McAlpine Avenue in Nashville, he was 61 years old when he died unexpectedly while working at his desk at the printing company on November 28, 1945, probably of a heart attack.
Survivors included his wife; sisters Mrs T J Warden, Mrs E B Kerr and Mrs Georgia Smith, all of Nashville TN, and his brother Charles McGee of Metropolis IL.
Funeral Services were held at John C Roesch Funeral Home, and burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
