Kate died from Congestion of Liver.

Her death along with the deaths of Anthony Delbridge, Hugh Datson and Elizabeth Martin within 10 weeks of each other in 1875, was the spark for what became known as the "Moonta Revival". The Bible Christians and Primitive Methodist churches both held daily services, sermons and pray meetings to remember the losses of the aforementioned people. The reaction was heated and resulted in over 2 800 religious conversions occurring across the district by the end of July 1875.

Kate's father George, was a lay-preacher at the Moonta Bible Christian Chapel.
