Amy Carter, was born in Ramsgate in Kent in 1881 the daughter of Stephen George Carter and his wife Agnes Emma. Her father owned the Paragon Dairy in Ramsgate which is where Amy was born. She was baptised on the 6th February 1881.
She had two older brothers. Hubert born 1878 and Percival in 1879. In 1891 she was living with her widowed mother in Ramsgate at the dairy.
In 1901 she had found a position as a servant in Croydon. In 1911 she was a servant at the Shorncliffe Camp in Folkestone where she was nurse to children of the Hutton-Wilson family. The Hutton-Wilson’s moved to Camberley. They lived at Crawley Lodge House and Amy lived in the lodge attached to the house.
It was when living at Crawley Lodge that she died on the 24th September 1940. She was buried at St Peter’s on the 28th September. Her brother Percival, then a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy, inherited her estate.
