He is listed on the 1840 US Census and he deeded land to Edmund (son) in 1838. Therefore the death seems to be incorrect.
It is listed in the cemetery book of LBL as 1831.

2 Feb 1829- George Lock Sr, James Hendon and David Vinson. Appoi nted to make provisions for Mary Christy, widow of William Chris ty, deceased, makes return to court.
3. Stewart County, Tennessee, 1827 Tax Roll, Entry 320, David Vinson, Pryors Creek.
4. Stewart County Tennessee, 1831 Tax Roll, 160 acres, Pryors Creek.
5. Awarded 160 acres in Kentucky Land Grant.
6. 3-3-1798, Northampton County, NC. Abner, David, & Silas, bought items at the Estate sale of James Vinson.

The county records at the archives proves he did not die in 1831.

In the Settlement, Wills, and Bonds Vol C page 470 was at Enos Outland's estate sale in 1835.

In 1838 he deeded his son Edmond (Edmund) 160 acres. The had a clause that stated that he and his wife could live on the property until they died.

In 1840 he was in the census records and he was in all of the tax records until 1846.

If we allow for a margin of error in some of the county records, I would say he was born between 1771 and 1781 and maybe between 1774 and 1780. He probably died between 1841 and 1847 and maybe 1845 or 1846.

David's father was James Vinson, proven patriot of the American Revolution for his fearless contribution of money, goods and horses to the cause, as well as sons.
