Edward Foltz (born Volz?) was thought to be the third of eight known (possibly 10) children of Jacob Volz/Foltz (1785-1845) and Elizabeth Zimmerman (1792-1856), who married 25 Jul 1811 in North Carolina.
Edward married Lucinda Sides (1820-1864) on 02 Oct 1840 at Stokes (now Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Edward and Lucinda were the parents of four known children, namely:
1. Anna Lecetta Foltz Nifong (1842-1905)
2. Sarah Maria Foltz Craver (1845-1938)
3. Mary Jeanette Foltz Fishel (1847-1932)
4. Henry Wesley Foltz (1853-1933)
