Bob Eakin of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at 90 years of age. He was born Robert Eakin August 7, 1927 in Runningwater, Texas to Marvin and Lella Palmer Eakin.
Bob honorably served in the United States Navy. He retired from Brookshire’s where he served as the service station attendant. Prior to Brookshire’s he drove trucks and was an electrician. Bob love the Lord and was a member at the Family Worship Center in Mount Pleasant. He loved bowling and was a member of the Mount Pleasant Bowling League. Bob enjoyed a good game of 42 and taught his grandchildren to play and enjoy the game as well as he enjoyed it.
Left to cherish his memory is his children, Dan and Denise Eakin of Hawkins, Texas, Marvin and Mary Ann Eakin of Smithville, Texas, Neal and Diana Cox of Mount Vernon, Texas, Gary Cox of Mount Vernon, Texas, Carol Jordon of Savannah, Texas, and Bobbie and Greg Dove of Mount Vernon, Texas; grandchildren, Cara and Jayme Dodge, Dane and Stacy Eakin, Cortney and Jerry Barton, Jason and Brittany Dove, Justin Dove, Monica and Ron Sommers, Amy and Jeff Briscoe; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Gleason and Barbara Eakin of Portland, Oregon, his sister, Betty Henley of Hesperia, California and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ritta Moles Eakin; 2nd wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Eakin; brothers, Carl Eakin and Duane Eakin and sisters, Marva Jones and Elaine Guthrie
