Peacetime Medal of Honor Recipient. He was born in Denmark. He entered the U.S. Navy in Maryland and served as a Captain of the Afterguard. His citation reads "For heroic conduct with two comrades, in rescuing from drowning James Rose and John Russell, seaman of the USS Winnooski, off Eastport, Maine, 10 May 1866."
