Indians Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He served during the Wars with the Plains Indians as a Sergeant in Company A, 7th United States Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravary at the Battle of Little Big Horn, Montana on June 25, 1876. His citation reads "Brought water to the wounded at great danger to life and under a most galling fire of the enemy". He was awarded the Medal on October 5, 1878.
