Born in Madison Nebraska to Jennie Eliza Ward Gates and Alfred Lee Gates. Marrying George Valentine White on December 25, 1925, they adopted Mildred Darlene White,(SEE PICTURE ON RIGHT THERE LITTLE DAUGHTER) and left Nebraska for work in California. Moving first to Corona and later buying homes in Norco. She lived the rest of her life there, dieing of heart disease. They raised all the food on an acre, except coffee and flour.(flour sacks where clothes)
Mildred had 3 children. Barbara, Donald and Robert. Going to grandma's was fun. She spent all her time teaching, knitting, crocheting, quilting, lace tatting, canning peaches., and spoiling us rotten.
She had a way of saying we are going to bed now, as opposed to mothers "Got to bed now"
We all thought it was fun to work around the mini ranch. I never learned how her chicken, biscuits and gravy, where so much better duplicating the ingredients could never duplicate the taste. GRANDMA FOOD WHO DOESN'T MISS IT. she had 10 grandchildren who miss her a lot. Age 86 her heart could not keep up any more.
Please do leave flowers(she loved roses) thank you
