"NORFOLK — Services for Dora B. Ahlmann, 96, of Norfolk will at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Jacqueline Samway will officiate with burial at Pleasantview Cemetery in Winside.
Visitation will begin an hour prior to services at the church. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
1921-2018
On Jan. 19, 2018, the Lord wrapped His arms around her and took her home.
Dora Berdina Ahlmann was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Pierce County, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth (Wagner) Miller. She grew up on a farm east of Hoskins and attended School District 11 and Trinity parochial school in Hoskins. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins in 1934.
Dora married Herbert “Buster” Sydow on Sept. 22, 1937, in Ivanhoe, Minn. They lived in Stanton and had a son, Richard.
On March 3, 1945, Dora married Harold Ahlmann in Lincoln. Three children were born: Sharon, Barbara and Harold Jr. Except for a few years that Dora was employed at JC Penney’s, she was a homemaker who enjoyed watching her grandkids and going wherever anyone asked her to go.
Dora is survived by her son, Richard (Carol) Sydow of Broomfield, Colo; a daughter, Barbara (Ron) Forslund of Norfolk; a daughter-in-law, Sara Ahlmann; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Harold in 1988; a son, Harold Jr.; a daughter, Sharon Thompson; a son-in law, Jesse Thompson; three brothers, Jake, Dave and Harry Miller; and six sisters, Frieda Meierhenry, Rose Puls, Elsie Hinzmann, Ruth Carstens, her twin sister, Lora Curtis, and Margaret Nydahl."
