George was born March 27, 1935 in Gallatin, Missouri, the son of Herman "Chuck" and Cuma (Cox) Roland. He married Donna Lou Woods on June 13, 1953 in Gallatin, Missouri. George was a warehouse foreman for Ginsberg's Furniture in Des Moines for many years, Charter bus driver and retired from Appletree Children's Center in Urbandale.
George is survived by his wife, Donna of Lorimor; two daughters, Deana Rowland and friend, Neal Courtney of Lorimor and Cristi Hoakison and husband, Bruce of Lorimor; two sons, Todd Rowland and friend, Maria Daly of Lorimor and Scott Rowland and wife, Deanne of Urbandale; seven grandchildren, Kati, Drew, Christopher, Zachery, Shannon, Bryce, and Tanner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Millie, Opal and Sharon.
