Princess Anastasia Petrović-Njegoš of Montenegro was the daughter of King Nikola I Petrović-Njegoš of Montenegro (1841–1921) and his wife, Milena Vukotić (1847–1923). Through her second marriage, she became Grand Duchess Anastasia Nicholaievna Romanova of Russia. She and her sister "Militza" (Princess Milica), having married Russian royal brothers, were known colloquially as the "Montenegrin princesses" during the last days of Imperial Russia.Daughter of King Nicholas I of Montenegro. She was first married to a prince, G.N. Romanovsky, Duke of Leuchtenberg, second - to grand Duke Nikolai Nikolaevich. Mother of the Prince S.G. Romanovsky, Duke of Leuchtenberg. She was very religious with a tendency to mysticism. Together with her twin sister Militsa she introduced Rasputin to the Russian royal family. She graduated from the Smolny Institute. In World War I led the Kiev hospital. In France, since 1920, patron of the Overseas Union of Russian military invalids. Under its auspices held the balls for ther Union of Gallipolians in Paris (1925, 1927, 1931). For some time patronized the Brotherhood of St. Anastasia in Menton (Alpes-Maritimes dep.). In May 2015 the body of Anastasia Nikolaevna Petrovic-Njegos Romanov was exhumed from the church and reinterred in Moscow at the Bratsky Military Cemetery in Sokoly.
