Norma Pauline (Smith) Lynch, 94, passed from this life to eternal life with Jesus Christ on August 13, 2018.

Norma was born on August 2, 1924 in Essex, Missouri. Norma was the youngest of four daughters born to the late Paul DeWitt and Ollie E. (McMullin) Smith.

She graduated from Boswell High School in 1942 and secured her first job as a bookkeeper for the Boswell Lumber Co., working there for eleven years. She went on to work as a school secretary for Boswell Elementary School and Benton County High School for twelve years. She transitioned to working at the Farmers and Merchants Bank in Bowell where she served as an assistant trust officer for 23 and a half years retiring in 1996.

Norma married the late Carl F. Lynch in 1948. In 1954, they welcomed a daughter, Lois Lynch Turner Dees. Norma faithfully raised Lois alone after Carl's passing in 1956. She was a loyal, loving sister to Evalyn Peterson Flynn, Bertha Mae Dimmich, and Vernele Hunter and a devoted, caring daughter.

Her faith, family, and friends were very important to the ever-social Norma. Her home was often the "hub" of parties, family and friend gatherings, and reunions. She remembered the name of everyone she met! She was kind and gracious to all. Norma was a member of the Boswell United Methodist Church where she worshipped for over 8 decades, prayed for many people, and served as a volunteer in many capacities.

Norma was an avid genealogist who wrote two books on the complex genealogy of the DeWitt Smith and Lynch families. Norma's passion for history led her to join the Fowler Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution (DAR), National Society of Colonial Dames (Lafayette, In.), and the Society of Indiana Pioneers. Many of her retired years were spent preserving family, state, and national history.

She is survived by her three grandchildren, granddaughter, Molly (Ken) Loyer of York, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Amy (Eric) Rogier of Atlanta, Georgia and grandson, Clay (Erica) Turner of Louisville, Kentucky. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Kerwin (Nancy) Dees of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her five great grandchildren include Annie (6) and Zeke (4) Loyer, Larry (4) and Mary Kate (1) Rogier, and Moses Turner (1).

Pallbearers will be Clay Turner, Kerwin Dees, Donald Dimmich, Ed Hunter, Lyle Hunter and Merle Peterson.
