Born in Herzog, Russia to Andreas Billinger(1832-?) and Katharina Kuhn(1833-?). Immigrated to the US on the SS Ohio, arriving Baltimore, MD on 23 Nov 1875. He married Magdalena Scheck in Russia and they had a son Andreas prior to leaving Russia.

1880 US Census (Hartsook, Ellis, Kansas, USA)
Andreas Billinger, head, 25 yrs old, famer
Magdalena Billinger, wife, 24, keeping house
Andreas Billinger, son, 6
Catharina Billinger, dau., 4
Peter Billinger, son 2

Die Herzoger indicates that the son Peter Billinger (born 7 Apr 1879) but he probably died young because another son Peter is listed born 28 Jul 1881. This second Peter married Anna Zimmerman and the older son Andrew appear to have changed their surname to Ballinger. Peter is likely FG# 27517606.

The older son Andrew married Marg. Katherine Rupp, daughter of Casper Rupp and Margaret Faller. They were living in Hays, KS in the 1905 KS census with Andrew's mother but Marg. Kath. Rupp died shortly afterwards in 1906. Andrews appears to have never remarried and lived with their son Raymond through the 1930 US census. Raymond Ballinger is FG# 67010161. The location of the graves of Marg. Kath. Rupp and Andrew Billinger are currently unknown. Andrew Billinger/Ballinger died in 1937. Raymond was living in California in the 1940 US Census but reported that his address in 1935 was rural Yuma county in Colorado. So Andrew may have died there.

Andreas' death and burial are recorded in the St. Fidelis parish death register (translated from Latin) as: "1885 on the day of 20 Feb died, fortified by the sacraments, Andreas Billinger, age 30 years, buried in Herzog 22 Feb."

As with many other early deaths, he was likely buried in the First Catholic Cemetery and later disinterred and moved to St. Fidelis Cemetery. No headstone for him can be found.
