SAN DIEGO - Adela R. Stansell, 97, was called home on Saturday, September 1, 2018 in an Alice nursing home after a short illness. She was born in San Patricio County on December 26, 1920 to her parents, Manuel and Bernarda Ramirez. She retired after 42 years of employment as a waitress at Dena's Restaurant in Alice. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the maquinitas and dancing. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years of marriage, Jesse Stansell; her son, Ricardo Barrera; her parents; step children, Patsy Cirilo, Dora Nino and Fred Stansell; her step father, Jose Salinas.
Adela is survived by two sons, Luis (AnnaLisa ) Rodriguez of Alice, Texas; Zaragoza (Peggy) Perez Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter, Sylvia Stansell of Alice, Texas; one step son, Jesse Stansell Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter raised as a daughter, Denise (Eddie) Huerta of Miltow Florida; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Interment will follow at the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, Texas.
