Professional Football Player. For twelve seasons (1953, 1956 to 1966), he played at the defensive tackle, guard, defensive end and linebacker positions in the National, American and Canadian Leagues with Chicago Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Oilers and Edmonton Eskimos. Born Edward Earl Husmann, he was a multi sports athlete at Ogallala High School in Nebraska. He received an athletic scholarship to the University of Nebraska, where he played collegiate football and earned a degree in Business. Selected by the Chicago Cardinals during the 9th round of the 1953 NFL Draft, he totaled 142 consecutive NFL and AFL career regular season games. Two years of his career (1954 to 1955), were interrupted while he served with the United States Military. He had the distinction of being on the Dallas Cowboys' roster during their inaugural season in the league (1960). In 1961, he experienced a world championship with the Houston Oilers as they won the American Football League Title. Individually, he received Pro-Bowl honors three consecutive years (1961 to 1963) and earned All-Pro status in 1962. After retiring from football, he worked in the insurance industry.
