Edward Strachey, 1st Baron Strachie was born on 30 October 1858 at Clifton, Gloucestershire, England.2 He was the son of Sir Edward Strachey, 3rd Bt. and Mary Isabella Symonds.2 He married Constance Braham, daughter of Charles Bampfylde Braham, on 17 January 1880.3 He died on 25 July 1936 at age 77.3
He gained the rank of Lieutenant between 1877 and 1882 in the 4th Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry.3 He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Somerset South between 1892 and 1911.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Strachey, of Sutton Court [U.K., 1801] on 24 September 1901.3 He held the office of Treasurer of the Household between 1905 and 1909.2 He was Parliamentary Secretary, Board of Agriculture and Fisheries between 1909 and 1911.3 He gained the title of 1st Baron Strachie, of Sutton Court, co.
