John St. Loe Strachey was born on 9 February 1860 at Clifton, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was the son of Sir Edward Strachey, 3rd Bt. and Mary Isabella Symonds.1 He married Henrietta Mary A. Simpson, daughter of Charles Turner Simpson, on 13 July 1887 at Kensington, London, England.1 He died on 28 August 1927 at age 67.2
