Martha's daughter Frances Dier Davis' obituary lists Vassar (Mrs. H. H. Ashburn) as Frances' sister. In 1910 Frances was also listed in the household of Mary Alice Whittington, named as her niece. (Frances' mother died in 1903 when Frances was a young child.) Vassar is not named as a sister in the obituaries of Frances' other three siblings.
