Isabel (Magante) Abdon passed away in Hayward, California on Friday, 31 August 2018, due to a long illness.
Isabel was born in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines on Thursday, 2 October 1930 to Jose and Maura Magante. She moved to Hayward, California in May 1971, where she lived more than forty years.
There, Isabel and her late husband, Renato Abdon co-founded the Hayward Santo Nino Group, the St. Bede Church choir, to which both remained highly active. Isabel also shared her beautiful voice with the choir of St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Through religion and music, Isabel, aka "Chabeng" and "Lola Bebeng" touched many lives.
Left to cherish her memory are Isabel's children, Irma (Renato) Ebarle; Ruben (Marjorie) Abdon; Marissa (Reynaldo) Lopez; Alvin (Celia) Abdon; and Renato (Lalaine) Abdon, Jr.; along with her sister, Rosie Villanueva; fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Though our Matriarch of the Abdon family is no longer with us in body, she will remain always with us in spirit and be missed, deeply, and loved by all. We know Isabel is now in Heaven, sharing her beautiful voice with the Choir of Angels, in peace.
Visitation was held from 5 to 9 P.M., on Thursday, 12 September 2018 and a Rosary held from 5 to 9 P.M., on Friday, 13 September in the Mission chapel at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward. Funeral Mass was then held at 11 A.M., on Friday, 14 September, in St. Bede's Catholic Church, 26950 Patrick Avenue, Hayward, followed by interment in the Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, 32992 Mission Boulevard.
